Basic Obedience Training

Basic obedience and structure are a big part of having a strong, balanced relationship with your dog. It teaches your dog how to act under different circumstances, and establishes a framework for your future relationship. A relationship where you set goals and expectations, your dog meets those goals, and your dog gets praise and rewards.  It also helps fearful or less-confident dogs by giving them predictable patterns of behavior to follow. If your dog always knows what behavior is expected it is easier for them to succeed and their confidence will grow substantially as a result.

Basic obedience can include

Sit
Down
Stand
Stay
Polite leash walking
Heeling

Recalls (Coming when called)
Watch (Holding eye contact with owner)
Leave It (Don’t take, eat, or roll in that)
Placement exercises:
Crate training
Go to place on cue

Problem Behavior

Behavior issues are the number one reason dogs are surrendered to shelters or euthanized. As dog owners we do so many things to protect our dogs and ensure their safety. We need to recognize that inappropriate behavior is the biggest threat to their well-being and security.

Integration into human society is the most basic principle of domestication. For any dog to have a happy, stable existence with humans they must be able to fit into the household and day-to-day lives of their owners without exhibiting destructive, aggressive or inappropriate behavior. Addressing problem behaviors quickly prevents them from turning into a larger problem and makes them easier  to resolve.

We can help you change any unwanted behavior and give you the tools to fix problems as they arise. To book an appointment, or to discuss your dog's behavior in further detail please Contact Rescue Me Canine Training..
